Hemp fiber is a natural vegetable fiber extracted from the bast (inner bark) of the Cannabis sativa plant. This fiber is frequently regarded as a 'super-fiber'. High-quality hemp is characterized by its fineness, a naturally light coloration, and a subtle luster. It stands as one of the most eco-friendly fibers available. Premium hemp fabric is often comparable to linen; furthermore, hemp is frequently blended with other fibers to enhance its hand-feel and skin comfort.

1. History

Hemp, also known as fiber hemp, Chinese hemp, or male hemp, is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Cannabaceae family. The entire plant is highly versatile, as every part can be utilized for industrial applications.

Hemp was the first natural fiber utilized by mankind for textile weaving, with a history of cultivation and usage spanning over 8,000 years. In ancient Chinese history, hemp was a vital crop, categorized among the 'Five Grains' (Wugu) alongside millet, wheat, and beans; in this historical context, the term 'cannabis' specifically referred to hemp.

Today, there are over 3,000 types of products derived from hemp worldwide. It is widely utilized across various sectors, including textiles, papermaking, food, medicine, construction, and the automotive industry, with its scope of application continuing to expand
